Step inside the Bursa Mevlevi Lodge, one of the most fascinating spiritual and cultural landmarks in Bursa, Türkiye.
Founded in 1615 by Cünûnî Ahmed Dede, the Bursa Mevlevi Lodge became an important center of Mevlevi culture, spirituality, music and education during the Ottoman period.
For centuries, this remarkable complex was home to the Sema tradition associated with the followers of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi. Its Semahane, Matbah-ı Şerif, dervish cells, tomb and other spaces reveal how Mevlevi life extended far beyond the famous image of the Whirling Dervishes.
The lodge continued its activities until 1925. In the decades that followed, much of the historic complex disappeared. After extensive research, archaeological work and reconstruction, the Bursa Mevlevi Lodge was brought back to life.
In 2023, after 98 years, Sema was once again performed at the Bursa Mevlevi Lodge.
